RRNW APPLICATION PETITION
Rad Racing is one of the largest and most successful junior cycling teams in the United States. A large part of that success is due to our application process. The team runs smoothly when kids, parents and team management understand the expectations that each bring to the table. Applicants are encouraged to explore Rad's website thoroughly and speak with current team members to understand how Rad works. In short, Rad Racing is looking for kids who love to ride their bikes, and are willing to work hard both on the bike and off it, often for the benefit of the group. Junior cyclists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to apply.
The application process opens at the beginning of each year, and the final roster is announced in mid-February. Space permitting, we accept applications throughout the year. Applications are due by January 31st, which allows the team to order clothing and equipment for everyone before the season starts.
The annual team fee is $450 and includes:

bib shorts
helmet
GigaBike Training Software
coaching
travel support
Your petition to be on the team must include:
Application: can be filled out in pen or downloaded and filled out electronically.

Racing Resume: include the races in which you've competed and your results. This must be submitted electronically and neatly formatted in Excel or Word. (If you've never raced, you shouldn't be discouraged from applying-Rad Racing is proud to recruit new riders.)
Essay: two pages, typed, double spaced, one inch margin, 12 point font, good grammar and spelling that answers the following questions:
Are you applying for the Junior Team (18 years and under) or the U23 Team (19-22 years old)
Why do you want to belong to Rad Racing?
What can you offer the team?
What are your cycling goals for this season?
What do you like the most about cycling?
What do you like the least about cycling?
How do you expect Rad to help you meet your goals?
What other sports do you participate in and what do you like/not like about them?
What other hobbies/activities do you participate in?
If you were on Rad last year, tell us what your favorite aspect of the team is.
If you were on Rad last year, tell what you'd like to change or improve.
Any additional comments that will help us learn more about you.
Please remember that Rad Racing is not entirely about winning bike races. We consider participation in community events, race attendance, parental support and overall dedication to the team, to be more important than race results. It's about quality people supporting a quality program.
A well-written essay is very important in this process. Each essay is read by Rad Team Management, and several of our major sponsors. It's a way for us to get to know more about you and it's become something that we truly look forward each year. This is a good opportunity to tell us about yourself-maybe something we didn't know before.
